I grew up in Staffordshire, England, learning trumpet and piano. I discovered Jazz early, began composing and eventually got some training on the horn section of the British National Youth Jazz Orchestra. After University I swapped trumpet for synthesizers and got into Jazz Fusion. During that time I worked as a sideman with guitarists Gary Boyle and Jim Mullen and as a leader with newcomers like drummer Adam Riley.
After a period of ill-health forced me to stop playing professionally, I took refuge in computer science and began programming MIDI music utilities. I returned to University then moved to London and focused on software development.
In 1997 I moved to Denmark to be with my Danish girlfriend, Maya. We got our first daughter, Iris, in 2003. Our second, Idun, followed in 2010. Since emigrating I've worked as a software engineer in R&D for a market leader in sound and vibration measurement.
Slowly my passion for music has returned. And rediscovering the trumpet has been more fun than struggle! However, for years now, I've been gambling much of my project time on developing some experimental music software which should enable me to advance the way I make music ...if I ever get to that point again! Time will tell whether it was time well spent!
